Racing for Orphans 2008!
Are you an experienced runner? Someone who likes the challenge of trying something new? An athlete looking for a new test? If any of the above describes you, "Racing for Orphans" is a great opportunity. Join me and others who will be running in the Detroit Marathon on October 19, 2008 to benefit "Friends of Russian Orphans".
The Detroit Marathon offers races for everyone including:
- Marathon Run (26.2 miles)
- Marathon for wheelers and handcylists with disabilities (26.2)
- Half-marathon (13.1 miles)
- Half-marathon competitive and non-competitive walks (13.1 miles)
- Five person relays with distances from 3 to 7 miles
- 5k run and fitness walk and kids red nose 5 k (3.1 miles) Fun Run
We are organizing a McCord Road Detroit Marathon participation group. We hope to have twenty five participants. Each participant must pay his or her own entry fee and register on line. Each participant will seek friends, relatives and co-workers to sponsor their participation in the race, with sponsorship proceeds going to "Friends of Russian Orphans". It will be a great chance to "Run for a Reason" and help children who are running the race of life alone. Come on! Get in the race!
