Service of Worship and Prayer for Russian Orphans.

FORO is preparing a service of worship and prayer for Russian orphans to be held on Sunday, January 6 at 4:00 pm at McCord Road Christian Church, 4765 McCord Road in Sylvania, Ohio 43560. All who are concerned about the welfare of Russian orphans are invited to attend. Pastors Andy Wiegand, Mike Jenkins and Timothy Carr will lead us as we look to the Lord for His guidance and help for these precious children. Please come.

Friends of Russian Orphans ("FORO") is an American mission organization, dedicated to demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ to Russian orphans and their caregivers through practical assistance and friendship programs.

As our mission statement implies, we carry out our work in two ways. The first is by helping meet practical living needs that exist in orphanages: repairing dilapidated rooms, supplying furniture, obtaining equipment such as furnaces, stoves, tools, and vans, constructing capital improvements like playgrounds, gyms, ceilings, windows, and roofs, and providing much- needed practical living items including development toys, clothing, boots, shoes, school supplies, and much more.

The second is by creating and implementing friendship programs, a term which includes various initiatives aimed at making a lasting difference in an orphan’s life. Our Dima Program provides medicine, treatment opportunities, and durable medical equipment for special needs children.
Our Roman Project brings bibles and spiritual instruction activities to the orphanages. What’s Cooking teaches children critical life skills of budgeting, shopping, food preparation and clean-up in a fun-filled competition. Journeys of Joy brings a group of Russian orphans to America for a summer visit with host families who teach them what a functional family life means. Arms of Hope brings additional nurturing caregivers into the baby home orphanages and into the lives of the youngest and most vulnerable orphans, with the aim of limiting the attachment difficulties and cognitive and emotional delays that often beset institutionalized children.

Through all of this and more, our organization demonstrates to Russian orphans that their lives are significant, and they are loved. We invite you to learn more about us so that you too may become a Friend of Russian Orphans.
